SCOIL MHUIRE GIRLS BOARD THE LORD NELSON 11th May, 2010.
The Gaelic Version
Dia Dhuit gact duine! Taimuid go leir anseo Lord Nelson. Ta atmasfear leictreach agus a lan craic ann! Inniu, d'fhagamar Weymouth
agus thosaimor aga seoltoireacht go dti Chrerbourg. Biomar aga obair go dian dicheallach ach anois taimid tuirseach traocht! Casamar amach
trasna an dtaobh mar bhi na dunta comh garbh sin ach beidh biseach orainn amarach nuair a scriocfamid An Fhrainc! Ta muid ar bhuin na muice!
Sla le gra o na cailini Eireannach ar Lord Nelson.
The "RATHER" English translation.
Greetings! Today we find ouselves upon the good ship, the Lord Nelson. The ambiance on board is quite simply spiffing and there is rather
jolly good time to be had by all. We took our leave from Weymouth on the forenoon, and made passage with an eye for landfall in Cherbourg on the
morrow. We're applying ourselves with aplomb, and hitherto where we were full of the pomp and vigour of the day, we retired to our bed chambers to
indulge in listless recumbency. Having briefly engaged in the temporary redecoration of the vessel's freeboard, one is optimistic that conditions
within the Dukedom of Normandy will assuage our affliction. Having reached the vertebral zenith of the porcine entity, we absolutely wholeheartedly
do indeed concur that all is well.
Indubitably, the fair maidens of the Emerald Isle.
In other words....
Set sail from Weymouth, puked, slept, puked some more, pulled rope, ate, survived, hope to arrive France tommorow.

On Monday 26th April member of Trim Active Retirement Group joined Transition Year students for an entertaining few hours of shared activities in Scoil Mhuire. The session commenced with half an hour of exercises to the music of ABBA and continued with songs and dancing. There were individual performances by Dolores O'Doherty, Rosie Hunwick and two "cheeky" students dressed up in the Scoil Mhuire school uniform. The morning concluded with a a game of bingo.
The event was a great success and enjoyed by everyone. Students were delighted with the energy and enthusiasm of the visitors - and they learned some new dance moves from the hucklebuck and the cockrel, accompanied by able accordian player Tommy Darby. A sincere thank you to Anne Murtagh and the Trim Active Retirement Group. Transition Year students hope to welcome them on a regular basis in the coming year.

Scoil Mhuire, Trims, Junior Football players made history for their school by competing in their 1st All Ireland Junior Football schools final in St. Ryanagh's GAA grounds Banagher, Co. Offaly on Saturday 24th April. The nervous bunch of Trim girls lined out at 5 pm to the opposition of Colaiste, Choilm, Ballincollig, Co. Cork. The Cork girls opened the scoring with an early point and goal, but following 2 strong attacks and a resulting 2 goals from Laura Dempsey, the Trim girls settled and they went in at half time a point up 2-4 to 2-3.
The Ballincollig team came out fighting in the second half, demonstrating speed and strength which the Trim girls found difficult to contain. With 10 minutes to go Scoil Mhuire were down by 7 points, but their fighting spirit that brought them to the final, kept them focused and they brought the score line back within the 2 points. However it was not to be for Scoil Mhuire, with Ballincollig accelerating in the last few minutes to finish on top by a goal and a point. The final score of the match Trim 3-9, Ballincollig 5-7.
Although, this was not the result we would have preferred we are thrilled for Laura Dempsey who received player of the match
Also, Management, Staff and Parents are extremely proud of the Junior Football panels achievement on this "Roller Coaster of a journey" to the All Ireland Football Final.

SCOIL MHUIRE ARE CHAMPIONS OF LEINSTER!!!!!!!!!!! |
Leinster Schools Junior Football Final
The Junior Footballers of Scoil Mhuire Trim became champions of Leinster on Monday 12th April, following a dramatic final against Castleknock C.C. At a sunny Dunshaughlin GAA grounds Castleknock started well by scoring a goal within the first two minutes. However, as the half progressed the Trim girls gained the upperhand and despite missing many chances, went in at half time leading 4-2 to 2-4.
Early in the second half Scoil Mhuire scored a goal to lead by 7 points, and seemed on the way to an easy victory. But Castleknock had other ideas and fought back strongly to take a 2 point leas as the game entered its final minute.
The referee signalled “one minute of injury time”, it was now or never for Trim. Hayley Kennedy took a kick out to Laura Dempsey who surged up the field beating tackle after tackle until she was pulled down 20 metres from the C.C. goals. Aoiffe Flynn reacted instantly and took a quick free to Deirdre Moroney (how did our centre-half back get to the edge of the square?) who blasted the ball in the Castleknock net.
TRIM WERE AHEAD!
KICK OUT – WHISTLE BLOWS – GAME OVER!

Karen Dunne 5th year took part in the Leinster Schools Cross CountryChampionships held in the Dell sports grounds on Wednesday 24th of February 2010. As the schools sole representative, Karen took part in the U17 Intermediate girls 3000mts race.
Karen qualified to these championships after finishing 8th out of over 40 competitions. Conditions were very bad on the day of the race underfoot and there was also showers of rain throughout the race, which made the race twice as hard. She had a great run to finish 41st out of over 100 competitors in the Leinster finals, considering she doesnt particularly like cross-country.

Leinster Schools Junior Football - February 2010
Scoil Mhuire Junior Football team have advanced to the Leinster semi-final after a clear cut victory over Mercy Navan on a score-line of 7-4 to 0-4. While the final score shows a comprehensive victory for the Trim girls the 1st half was quite competitive with Navan putting up stiff resistance. The half time score was 2-0 to 0-3.
In the second half aided by a strong breeze and some substitutions Trim took complete control and in the end ran out easy winners. Scoil Mhuires defensive unit of H.Kennedy, C. Foley, C. Murray, R. Payne, S. Kennedy, H. Regan and E. Troy were in control at all times.
Centre field L. Bagnall and A. Guy put in a tremendous amount of hard work throughout the game.
The Trim forward line of S. Ennis, D. Moroney, L. Griffin, J. Molloy, A. Flynn, and Kate Lawless with the aid of the breeze, and substitutes L.Dempsey and a. Minogue really came into their own in the second half.
The semi-final will be played against a South Leinster team and we wish the girls all the best in that game.
